Aviation Rankings
US aviation rankings derived live from the PlainFlights database. Every figure is sourced from the U.S. Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Statistics On-Time Performance dataset (2020–2025, all 50 states); rankings refresh as new monthly filings arrive. See our methodology.
Every ranking below is a historical BTS average, not a guarantee about any individual flight. Route mix affects the numbers, an airline or airport with more weather-prone or congested routes will show worse figures independent of operational quality.
Best On-Time Airports
Ranked by live on-time arrival rate, weighted by total flight volume.

Highest average arrival delay minutes, refreshed monthly from BTS filings.

Carrier-level rankings on cancellations, on-time, and reliability metrics.
Top On-Time Airports (Live)
The fifteen U.S. commercial airports with the highest on-time arrival rate based on the most recent BTS monthly filings. Volume thresholds apply, small regional airports with fewer than ten thousand annual arrivals are excluded so the ranking reflects sustained operational performance rather than statistical noise. Tap any airport to see its monthly delay history, top routes, and cancellation breakdown.

How Aviation Rankings Work
Every ranking on PlainFlights is computed at request time from a curated mirror of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics On-Time Performance dataset, the same regulatory source the airlines themselves file. We refresh the dataset on the standard monthly cadence, so within roughly two weeks of a month closing, the rankings reflect that filing window. Nothing is editorially curated; nothing is pre-ranked by hand. The ordering you see is the ordering the data produces.
On-time arrival is the industry-standard metric: a flight is considered on-time if it lands within fifteen minutes of its published arrival. Cancellations and diversions are tracked separately and excluded from the on-time percentage so a carrier cannot improve its on-time score by cancelling likely-late flights. Where applicable, rankings weight by total flight volume so high-traffic hubs are compared on equivalent footing with smaller stations.
Each linked ranking page surfaces the underlying month-by-month trend, the delay-cause breakdown (carrier-caused vs. weather vs. NAS vs. security vs. late-aircraft), and the affected route network. This is the same data that the FAA, BTS, and major industry analysts use when reporting on industry performance, surfaced page-by-page so any flyer can verify the numbers behind the headline.
Every figure on PlainFlights is rendered directly from BTS On-Time Performance data, no number is typed in by an editor. This hub surfaces the top airports and airlines by on-time rate, live from the dataset. See our editorial standards & corrections policy, the methodology behind these numbers, or report a data error.
